Deep tissue & therapeutic table

Therapeutic Table

Focused, hands-on table massage in downtown London, Ontario - deep, thoughtful pressure to help ease chronic tension, muscle knots and everyday strain, delivered one-on-one by Beverly Peckham RMT or one of her skilled associates, since 1996.

Deep tissue and therapeutic table massage is the treatment most people picture when they think of registered massage therapy. You rest on a padded table, comfortably draped, while Beverly works directly on the skin using a light massage lotion. That direct contact lets her reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue where stubborn tension likes to settle.

At Carpe Diem, every table session is one-on-one and tailored to the body in front of her. With 30+ years in practice, Beverly reads how your muscles are responding and adjusts as she goes - this isn't a scripted routine applied the same way to everyone.

What deep tissue & table massage can help ease

Massage therapy doesn't cure or fix - but focused table work can genuinely help ease the tension and discomfort that build up in day-to-day life. Clients commonly come to Beverly and her team for:

  • Chronic muscle tension that has settled in over weeks or months and won't let go on its own.
  • Muscle knots and tight bands (trigger points) that refer pain to other areas.
  • Sports and overuse strain from training, repetitive movement or a physically demanding job.
  • Low-back pain and the deep ache that comes from long hours of sitting or standing.
  • Neck and shoulder pain, including the classic tension of desk work and screen time.
  • Postural strain across the upper back and hips from how we hold ourselves all day.
  • Tension headaches that trace back to a tight neck, jaw and shoulders.

The techniques Beverly draws on

Because no two bodies hold tension the same way, Beverly blends several hands-on techniques within a single session rather than relying on one approach:

  • Deep tissue massage - slow, deliberate pressure that works into the deeper muscle layers.
  • Myofascial release - gentle, sustained stretching of the fascia (the connective tissue that wraps your muscles) to help restore ease of movement.
  • Trigger-point therapy - targeted pressure on those tender knots to help them let go.
  • Acupressure - focused pressure on specific points to help release and calm the surrounding muscle.
  • Dynamic cupping - moving, gliding suction that lifts and eases fascial restriction. Learn about cupping.
  • Microcurrent point stimulation (MPS) - needle-free micro-impulses used to help soften scar tissue and calm the nervous system. Learn about MPS.
  • Cold red light laser - gentle low-level light from a handheld device, used to support soft-tissue recovery. Learn about red light laser & therapeutic ultrasound.
  • Therapeutic ultrasound - high-frequency sound waves applied through a handheld device and conductive gel, used to help ease inflammation and support tissue healing. Learn about therapeutic ultrasound.

Red light laser, therapeutic ultrasound, microcurrent (MPS) and cupping all require direct skin contact and cannot be done over clothing, so they're offered as add-on therapies to a therapeutic table treatment.

What to expect & how pressure is tailored

Your first visit begins with a health history and a short conversation to determine your areas of concern and your desired outcome for the treatment. From there, you'll have a chance to ask questions, the focus of the treatment will be determined, and there will be check-ins as the work progresses so adjustments can be made if needed.

"Deep" doesn't have to mean painful. Beverly dials the pressure up or down to what your body welcomes on the day - firm enough to make a difference, never more than you're comfortable with. You're always in control, and telling her to ease off or lean in is part of how the treatment is guided. Warm lotion, a quiet second-floor space away from the market bustle, and unhurried, attentive care are the norm here.

Afterward, Beverly may suggest simple stretches, water and a little rest to help you get the most from the session. A receipt is always provided for your extended-health insurance claim.

Who it's for

Therapeutic table massage suits anyone carrying tension they'd like help easing - whether that's a specific complaint like a stiff low back or aching shoulders, recovery from overuse, or simply the accumulated strain of a busy life in London. If you prefer to stay fully clothed or have limited time, Beverly also offers over-the-clothing chair massage; if you're recovering from a head injury, ask about concussion recovery care. Not sure which is right for you? Beverly is glad to talk it through before you book.

Is deep tissue right for you? It depends on your health history. Beverly can absolutely do deep, focused work - but for some conditions a lighter touch or a different approach is safer and more effective, so her recommendation is always based on your health history and how you're feeling on the day. Tell her what's going on and she'll suggest the best treatment for your body.
