Microcurrent point stimulation

Microcurrent Point Stimulation (MPS) in London, Ontario

A gentle, needle-free therapy that pairs beautifully with hands-on massage. Beverly Peckham RMT, uses tiny micro-impulses on specific points to help soften scar tissue, calm the nervous system and release stubborn tension.

What is MPS?

MPS - microcurrent point stimulation - applies brief, concentrated micro-impulses of very low-level current to specific points on the body, including acupuncture, trigger and motor points. Delivered with a handheld Dolphin MPS unit, it blends ideas from Western neurology and acupuncture, without any needles. Beverly uses it as one tool within a treatment, alongside her hands-on work.

What MPS is used for

  • Softening scar tissue and adhesions - combined with manual therapy, it's used to help release scar-tissue restriction and improve how the tissue glides
  • Calming the nervous system - it's used to help down-regulate an over-revved (sympathetic) nervous system and promote a calmer, more relaxed state
  • Releasing muscle tension and helping tight areas let go
  • Supporting pain relief as part of a broader treatment plan
  • Stimulating points needle-free - a comfortable alternative for those who'd rather avoid needles

MPS is a supportive therapy. It may help ease tension, soften scar tissue and promote relaxation, but it isn't a cure for any medical condition, and it isn't a treatment for diagnosed anxiety, depression or disease.

What to expect

Most points are very comfortable - many people feel little more than a slight tingle as Beverly moves the applicator over the points she's targeting. Occasionally, MPS may create a brief “zing” sensation when it reaches an area where nerve conductivity is not functioning optimally. That sensation may indicate the treatment is working to help restore or unblock the flow. Beverly checks in with you throughout, and MPS is usually woven into a massage session rather than booked on its own.

Important safety notes. MPS is not suitable for anyone with a cardiac pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or other implanted electronic device, and it is not used during pregnancy. It isn't applied over the front of the neck or across the head, and it's only ever used for issues a qualified practitioner has assessed. Please tell Beverly about your health history and any implanted devices when you book.
