Meet Beverly Peckham RMT - 30+ Years of Care
A registered massage therapist in downtown London, Ontario since 1996 - treating every client one-on-one at the Covent Garden Market.
Beverly founded Carpe Diem as a way to make massage therapy a part of everyday living. A Registered Massage Therapist since 1996, she wanted to provide a variety of treatment options to be viable for people with diverse needs - including time restraints, positioning, or modesty.
She brings 30+ years of experience in treating all kinds of injuries and chronic repetitive conditions, such as strain and tendinitis, with a strong familiarity in concussion recovery. Beverly specializes in repetitive strain and restricted movement - the compensating tensions and imbalances that build up when the body quietly works around an old injury. And because it's Beverly you see at every visit, she gets to know your body over time - every treatment builds on the last.
A broad, hands-on skill set
Beverly is trained in general Swedish massage techniques and trigger-point therapy, and has taken extra training in myofascial work, aromatherapy and acupressure. She draws on a wide range of techniques - including dynamic cupping, microcurrent point stimulation (MPS) and red light therapy - so she can match the treatment to the person in front of her, not the other way around:
Care that meets you where you are
Some clients arrive with a specific injury and a referral; others just need to undo the tension of a long week. Some prefer the full table experience with lotion; others feel most comfortable staying fully clothed for a seated or over-the-clothing treatment. All of it is welcome here - Beverly will talk it through with you and adjust pressure, focus and technique to what your body needs that day.
One thing Beverly will always encourage: don't wait for a small ache to become an acute flare-up. The best time to deal with pain is now - easing it early, before it settles in and becomes chronic.
Children are a welcome part of her practice, too. As a parent, Beverly understands that massage for children is a healthy way for the whole family to manage stress and pain - and a wonderful way to model self-care and coping skills at a young age.
Two specialties worth knowing about
Two areas set Carpe Diem apart from a typical relaxation-only practice:
- Over-the-clothing chair & onsite massage - quick, effective, no undressing required, and available at your workplace as a wellness perk for your team.
- Concussion recovery - calm, focused therapy in adjustable dim lighting to help ease the headaches, neck tension and stiffness that can follow a concussion.
My own experience
Beverly also knows recovery from the inside. She has personal experience with concussion and with cancer recovery, and that shapes how she works - calm, patient and centred on what your body can handle on the day. For concussion clients especially, she keeps the treatment space quiet with adjustable, dim lighting, so a session can ease tension without overwhelming your senses.
