Dynamic Cupping Therapy in London, Ontario
A gentle, myofascial approach to cupping. Rather than parking a cup in one spot, Beverly Peckham RMT, glides it across the muscle - easing fascial restriction and tension while tending to leave much lighter marks than traditional static cupping.
What is dynamic cupping?
Dynamic cupping - also called moving or gliding cupping - uses a suction cup on lightly oiled skin, which Beverly then moves smoothly across the area she's working on. The gentle suction lifts the skin and the fascia (the connective tissue that wraps your muscles) while the movement spreads that lift over a broader area. It's a hands-on, myofascial-release technique that pairs naturally with massage.
Why fewer marks than traditional cupping?
The classic dark, round cupping marks come from strong suction held in one place for several minutes. Because dynamic cupping keeps the cup moving, that concentrated pull never settles in one spot - so it's less likely to leave heavy bruising, and any marks tend to be lighter and fade faster. (Everyone responds differently, and some temporary redness or light marking can still happen.) Marks are never the goal - comfort and results are.
What dynamic cupping is used for
- Easing muscle tension and tightness across the back, shoulders and limbs
- Supporting mobility and range of motion by helping soft tissue move more freely
- Addressing fascial restriction - those "stuck" or bound-up areas
- Supporting local circulation to the area being worked on
- Complementing hands-on massage as part of a tailored treatment
Cupping is a supportive technique - it may help ease tension and improve how you move, but it isn't a cure for any medical condition, and it doesn't "detoxify" or "draw out toxins."
What to expect
After reviewing your health history and speaking with you, Beverly will determine whether cupping is appropriate and whether it suits what you are hoping to achieve. When it's a good fit, she works it into your session - usually alongside hands-on massage rather than on its own. You'll feel a gentle pulling or stretching sensation as the cup glides; it should never be painful, and she adjusts the suction and pace to your comfort throughout.
